We prescribe only FDA-approved medications, not compounded versions. Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide aren't FDA-approved, so nobody has checked them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they're sold. Their strength and quality can vary, and their availability is uncertain. What we prescribe comes from the manufacturer, at the manufacturer's published price.

What it costs

Two separate costs, and nothing else

Your visits and your medication are paid for in different ways. Here's how each one works.

Billed to your insurance

Your visits with Helen

Billed to your health insurance like any other office visit. Your usual copay or deductible applies.

If you don't have insurance, or would rather not use it, our self-pay rates are:

New-patient visit $150 Follow-up visit $100

Paid to the manufacturer

Your medication

In most cases paid out of pocket, directly to the manufacturer's self-pay program, because many plans don't cover GLP-1 medication for weight loss.

Yorkshire Rose doesn't sell the medication or add anything to its price. If your plan does cover it, we'll use your coverage.

See medication prices

There's no separate program fee or membership, just your visits and your medication.

How it works

How the program works

Medication is one tool, not the whole plan.

  1. An initial evaluation with Helen

A proper conversation about your health history, your medications, what you've already tried, and what you'd like to change.

  2. Baseline labs

Bloodwork before you start, so there's a clear starting point and anything that needs attention first is found early. About the labs

  3. Choosing a medication

You and Helen choose together, weighing your history, whether you'd prefer a pill or an injection, and what it will cost you.

  4. A gradual titration schedule

The dose starts low and goes up in steps, giving your body time to adjust.

  5. Regular follow-ups

Check-ins to adjust the dose, manage side effects, and see how you're doing.

  6. Nutrition, protein, activity, and muscle

Eating enough protein, staying active, and protecting muscle while you lose weight are part of the plan from the start.

Who it's for

Is this right for me?

Eligibility depends on your BMI and your health history, and it's decided with Helen at your first visit. If medication isn't the right fit for you, she'll tell you plainly and explain why.

FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes, can be prescribed off-label for weight management

Ozempic and Mounjaro contain the same active ingredients as Wegovy and Zepbound. They're approved for type 2 diabetes, so using them for weight management is "off-label", which Helen will discuss with you. When you're paying out of pocket, the versions approved for weight management are often the same price or cheaper.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide)

  • These are the manufacturers' self-pay prices, for patients without coverage or whose plan excludes the drug. They change often, and we confirm the current price with you before you start.
  • If your insurance does cover the medication, your cost may be much lower: some patients pay as little as $25 a month with a manufacturer savings card. We check your coverage first.
  • Self-pay orders go through the manufacturers' own pharmacies: LillyDirect for Zepbound and Foundayo, and NovoCare Pharmacy for Wegovy and Ozempic.
Labs

Baseline and monitoring labs

We recommend the Weight & Metabolism panel as your baseline and monitoring panel: $280 on its own, or $345 together with the Foundation panel.

Some baseline labs may be covered by your insurance, and we'll bill insurance wherever it applies.

Baseline and monitoring labs can also be drawn at home for $75, paid out of pocket and performed by Labs at Home.

Safety

Side effects and safety

The most common side effects are digestive: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and stomach discomfort. Raising the dose gradually is meant to give your body time to adjust, and Helen will talk you through what to expect and when to get in touch.

Why we monitor

  • Your pancreas and gallbladder. Inflammation of the pancreas and gallbladder problems have been reported with these medications, so we check baseline labs and ask about symptoms at every follow-up.
  • Hydration. Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea can lead to dehydration, which can affect your kidneys.
  • Muscle. Losing weight can mean losing muscle as well as fat, which is why protein and activity are part of the plan.

Not right for everyone

These medications aren't used during pregnancy, or for anyone with a personal or family history of a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma, or with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN 2). Helen goes through your full history before recommending anything.

FAQ

Common questions

Why don't you prescribe compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide?
Compounded versions aren't FDA-approved, so the FDA doesn't review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they're sold. Their strength and quality can vary, and their availability is uncertain. We prescribe only FDA-approved medications, bought at the manufacturers' published prices.
What does "off-label" mean?
A medication is prescribed off-label when it's used for something other than what the FDA approved it for. Ozempic and Mounjaro are approved for type 2 diabetes, so using them for weight management is off-label. Helen will talk it through with you, including cost: manufacturer savings programs generally require an FDA-approved use, and the versions approved for weight management are often the same price or cheaper when you're paying out of pocket.
Is the visit covered by insurance?
Your visits with Helen are billed to your health insurance like any other office visit, and your usual copay or deductible applies. The medication is separate: we check whether your plan covers it before you start. See which plans we accept.
What if I don't have insurance?
Our self-pay rates are $150 for a new-patient visit and $100 for a follow-up visit. The medication is paid directly to the manufacturer at the self-pay prices shown above.
Should I take a pill or an injection?
It depends on you. Zepbound and Wegovy are weekly injections. The Wegovy pill and Foundayo are daily tablets: the Wegovy pill is taken on an empty stomach with a little water, 30 minutes before food, while Foundayo has no fasting or water restrictions. Helen will help you choose based on your history, your routine, and the cost.
How long will I need to take it?
There's no set length. These medications are approved to help with losing weight and keeping it off, and in clinical trials the benefit lasted while people kept taking them. How long is right for you is something you and Helen decide together and revisit at your follow-ups.
What happens if I stop?
In two large clinical trials, one with semaglutide (STEP 4) and one with tirzepatide (SURMOUNT-4), people who switched to a placebo regained a substantial part of the weight they had lost, while those who stayed on the medication kept it off. If you want to stop or pause, talk to Helen first so you can plan it together.
Can you draw my blood at home?
Yes. Baseline and monitoring labs can be drawn at home across Greater Boston and Central Massachusetts for a flat $75, paid out of pocket and performed by Labs at Home. That's in addition to the cost of the labs themselves. To arrange one, request an appointment or call us at (774) 220-8264.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Often eligible with a prescription; confirm with your plan administrator.
