Most annual bloodwork checks a handful of things and takes ten minutes to explain. This program goes much further, and then we sit down together and go through every line of it.

Testing alone doesn't make anyone better. What helps is knowing which numbers matter for you, which don't, and what to do next.

How it works

Three steps

  1. Start with Foundation

Seven core measurements that everything else is read against. If you've had them done recently, bring the results and we'll skip them.

  2. Add a focus, or don't

The five focus panels never repeat Foundation, so you never pay twice for a Foundation test.

  3. Sit down with the results

A full appointment, in person or by video. Not a voicemail, and not a portal message saying everything looks fine.

How pricing works

The laboratory's price, plus one fee

Every panel costs the laboratory's price plus our $150 fee. We add nothing to the laboratory's price.

The laboratory price

Paid directly to Access Medical Labs, at their price, with nothing added.

+ our $150 fee

Covers the draw, processing, the courier, and Helen's time interpreting your results and building a plan with you.

Charged once

The fee is charged once per appointment, however many panels you add.

What we don't do

Two tests we've chosen not to sell

IgG "food sensitivity" panels

IgG shows which foods you've eaten, not which ones you react to. The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology lists IgG food testing among unproven tests, and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology reached the same conclusion.

Broad allergy screens without symptoms

They turn up positives you'll never react to, which is worry rather than information.

Good to know

What this is not

It's not a substitute for the preventive screening your insurance already covers, and it's not a diagnosis. Some findings will lead to treatment, some to a repeat test in three months, and some will simply be reassuring. We'll tell you honestly which is which.

Paying for this

The laboratory bills you directly, and you know the full cost before anything is drawn. No claim, no EOB, no bill six weeks later. Most patients can use HSA or FSA funds (confirm with your plan administrator).

Screening that your insurance covers at no cost to you, we bill to your insurance as normal. We never charge you cash for something your plan would have covered.

Prefer not to come in? At-home blood draws are available across Greater Boston and Central Massachusetts for a flat $75, paid out of pocket and performed by Labs at Home. That's in addition to the laboratory price and our $150 fee. To arrange one, request an appointment or call us at (774) 220-8264.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I have to start with Foundation?
Most people start there, because it's what everything else is read against. If you've had those tests done recently, bring the results and we'll skip them.
Can I add several panels?
Yes. You pay the laboratory's price for each panel, and our $150 fee once for the appointment, however many panels you add. Add-ons come from the same draw with no second fee.
Is this covered by insurance?
These panels are self-pay: the laboratory bills you directly and you know the full cost before anything is drawn. Screening that your insurance covers at no cost to you, we bill to your insurance as normal. We never charge you cash for something your plan would have covered.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Most patients can. Confirm with your plan administrator.
How long do results take?
Turnaround times vary by test, but most results are back within about a week. Some specialty tests take longer.
Do I need to fast?
Fasting is preferred for all of our lab work. We'll give you specific instructions when you book.
Can you draw my blood at home?
Yes. At-home blood draws are available across Greater Boston and Central Massachusetts for a flat $75, paid out of pocket and performed by Labs at Home. That's in addition to the laboratory price and our $150 fee. To arrange one, request an appointment or call us at (774) 220-8264.
